Important: FICA Tax Information

As an election worker, you should be aware of FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act) taxes, which include Social Security and Medicare taxes.

2026 Tax Year: FICA taxes will be deducted from the first dollar earned after the exemption limit of $2,500. This means:

  • Your first $2,500 in earnings is exempt from FICA taxes
  • Any earnings beyond $2,500 will have FICA deductions applied
  • You'll receive detailed information about these taxes in your onboarding completion email and payment notifications
